Matt Kelley has been working in residential construction for over 25 years. His professional path began as a teenager working for his uncle, building cabinets and installing trim in Southampton, River Oaks, and several of Houston‘s other premier neighborhoods. While earning his degree in philosophy from the University of Montana, Matt began renovating and restoring some of Missoula’s oldest historic homes. It was there that he developed his love for classical design, historic architecture, and timeless building practices. After graduating he followed in his grandfather‘s and uncle’s footsteps by becoming a full-time carpenter, then foreman, and then project manager, before eventually starting his own business in custom trim carpentry and historic renovation.
In 2011 Matt returned to Houston to be closer to his family and to work in the city‘s thriving high-end residential market. Since then, he has worked with many of Houston’s most talented designers, architects, and builders on some of the most beautiful homes in River Oaks, Tanglewood, West University, Southampton, and the villages. When he’s not on a job site, Matt is likely to be found playing tennis, designing and building furniture, or planning his next outdoor adventure to the wilds of Montana.
Matt spent ten years crunching numbers in Houston’s thriving oil & gas and construction industries before joining the team. In addition to producing detailed financial statements and forecasts for investors, he has worked on M&A teams with esteemed firms to complete thorough due diligence projects for several million dollars’ worth of acquisitions and system integrations. With a keen eye for detail and experience in accounting, data manipulation and financial analysis, he is equipped with a robust skillset and technical expertise required to support a variety of large operations.
At Morris Hullinger Design Build, Matt is the central hub for financial operations. He is responsible for controlling every cost detail to ensure that your dream projects align with initial forecasts throughout every phase of completion. Outside of work, Matt balances the structure of his career by indulging his creative spirit through music and writing. He is a classically trained trombone player, vocal performer and continues to further master the worlds of guitar, drums, ukulele and piano.
